Task1

This week we simplified the experience of reading Hoffman Centre’s articles through illustrations and data visualization in card reading.

Interact Demo about game task1- card reading.

Each of us was responsible for the visualization of different topics according to our own interests. This way of collaboration greatly reduces the burden of tasks, ensuring that everyone is able to participate in the project. However, We encountered obstacles in maintaining the unity of illustration style even if we had put forward the reference of illustration style. Thankfully, the unified colour palette is conducive to promote the unity of style greatly.

Task2

In task 2, players will explore the virtual environment. They can use the camera function to shoot the object to gain related news or knowledge. What’s more, they could learn about the homeless people’s current situation and think about how to make their living environment better.

Task3

In this week, we also improve the prototype of task Task 3 which enrich the player’s experience of the Hoffmann center’s collections. Task 3 not only checks whether the player knows the knowledge, but also provides players dialogues to learn more relevant knowledge.

Feedback and Refelction

Tutors pointed out that we were building up the more exploitative aspects of our project. Virtualization and digitalization let users not even leave their comfortable sofas. It is precisely an irony to the homeless, and it will flatten out the social, personal-psychological aspects that lead to exacerbating homelessness. We did not notice that we were solving problems while creating problems.

It made me realize that we should not only consider the design product itself , but also cultivate insight ability that predicts what we design will bring combined with social environment and technology, and other factors.
